Tottenham end nine-year jinx in style to book a place at Wembley

Nothing has been lost in translation, there will be no corrections, amplifications, clarifications or hasty adjustments in the stop press. Tottenham scored five goals and Arsenal one: fact.

Tottenham were in a different class: irrefutably. The best team won, without a doubt. Go on, pinch yourself. This is no dream, we promise.

True, it may only have been half an Arsenal team who lost at White Hart Lane, but it was also half an Arsenal team who contested the final of this tournament last season and came damn close to beating Chelsea at full strength. Whatever gambles Arsène Wenger took last night, he did not expect to lose in such humiliating fashion. No team is comfortable going down by such a mighty margin to its bitterest rival. After such a long period of domination for the red sector of North London, bragging rights accrued from this match will be brutally exercised and Arsenal fans will feel let down.

Super snacks for Super Bowl Sunday

This year's Super Bowl, thanks to an extensive array of commercials and an extended half-time break, will be a drawn-out affair. If you and a group of friends are committed to watching the game, you're definitely going to need some substantial snacks to see you through.

And so I've cooked up three dishes that should score a touchdown with your guests. The homemade chicken strips, tastily crusted with crushed and seasoned tortilla chips, are made with chicken breast fillets, the centre part of the breast. In quality, they are miles above frozen, factory-made chicken strips, which are thickly coated and often made, as one national retailer proudly advertised, with solid, all-white chicken-breast meat. What the heck is that? Aren't all chicken breasts white, solid and meat?

The mini-cheeseburger deluxe is a fun and colourful creation set on a toasted baguette.

KANDY FIVE-FER: DAY FIVE

Clearly there's some bad luck about getting the gazunder that did for him, but a more advanced starting point would have encouraged him to be on front rather than back foot.

2. Rauf Luck
The Test was a great one, and the umpiring generally excellent. While only Michael Vaughan over the first four days could claim to have fot a really bad one, there was a feeling that decisions were just going the home side's way.

On day five, it became more than a feeling.

Two crucial decisions - at vital moments - swung the final day Sri Lanka's way when England looked capable of pulling something out of the fire.

And both mistakes came from Asad Rauf; first, Ravi Bopara was given out on the front foot well forward and just outside the line.

Life at the bottom in India

Their homes are down the road and centuries removed from India's gleaming technology parks and youthful call centres.

According to Santram Pradhan, president of the union representing the 8,000 sewage workers at the Delhi Jal Board, around 1,000 of them have died in the past seven years. He says 200 have died from asphyxiating on the gases and drowning in excreta; about 800 others died from tuberculosis, hepatitis and other diseases. "Half die, half retire," he says, ascribing many of the safety lapses to the water board's lack of concern for workers from the Valmiki community.

Safety equipment is available, he says. The sewage workers concur the money has been appropriated and the masks, boots, gloves, pumps and other gear have been procured. But because of neglect, discrimination or disregard, the workers wield little more than a pick, a hoe and a bucket.
